Baby Movie Time!

So, we've been pretty down because we haven't been able to go to any movies since TG was born.  And we LOVE our movies!  And then someone told us about a local theater that has a sweet program!  Every Tuesday, they allow parents to bring in their babies and small children for the first showing of any movie.  So, the Husband took off work for a little while and we went to the movies this past Tuesday!
We went to see Avatar (which was freakin' awesome!) and we accidentally saw it in 3D.  At first I was so, so upset, since I can't see anything in 3D with my monovision.  And then we got the fancy, dancy 3D glasses!  Woah, dude, 3D has certainly come a long way since the days of my youth.  Gone are the days of the ridiculous red and blue paper glasses!  This theater offered plastic, reusable glasses that, even with monovision, make the movie totally viewable!  Now, of course they couldn't make the movie 3D for me (which according to The Husband and Big D was AMAZING!) but it took away the weirdness of all the lines so that I was able to enjoy it like a regular movie!!  So, now it's possible for The Husband and Big D to go to 3D movies and for me to tag along!  Awesome possum. Technology is amazing.

Procrastination 101

As I sit here, I think about how I should update.  Instead, do you know what I've been doing?  Playing Zebra Mahjong on Facebook.  That's right, the lamest of the lame. Whatever, though, it's fun.  And then I think about how I should be planning when I intend to make cinnamon rolls and bake delicious things for my friends.  Instead?  That's right, Zebra Mahjong.  Just be rest assured that there is a real post coming, soon, at some point, eventually. And that everything here is fine and dandy.  Just lazy.

Better Late Than Never, Right?

So, we had a fun Halloween! In the earlier part of the day, there was a Ballet Folklorico at the local library.  Big D was very interested in going, so we got her all dressed in her costume and headed over.

It was a lot of fun to watch, but of course, TG needed to eat as soon as we got there, so I could only see part of it.  Apparently The Husband was asked to dance during an audience participation part, but he declined!  Big D and I expressed our disappointment, so hopefully the next time an opportunity like that arises, he takes part!
We made plans with the neighbors to go trick or treating together, so we were running on a schedule, so of course, we were running late!  After the library, we went and got dinner at Sonic (50 cent corn dogs, yo!) and that only served to make us later!  Ha!  We are maybe not experts at managing our time...
As time was quickly running out we completed the finishing touches on our costumes and stuffed a whiny baby into his costume.  TG did alright with the trick or treating as long as he was being held.  But, he only lasted about 20 minutes or so, when he loudly declared that he had ENOUGH!  So, he went home with daddy and I stayed out with Big D and the neighbors to finish trick or treating!  Big D got lots of candy! Trick or treating in Texas is much, much better than trick or treating in hell frozen over Colorado.
Big D decided to make her costume prom queen by day and turn it into ZOMBIE PROM by night!  I decided to join her in such a fun costume idea, plus also, I might love zombies. A lot. The Husband didn't get his picture taken in his costume, the spoil sport.  And little TG was the most adorable hot dog on earth!
All in all, it was a really great night and we had a ton of fun!  We love Halloween!

OMIGOSH!

My husband photoshopped this photo to make my little sister a zombie on her wedding day.  She made the face, he just supplied the gore! Ha!

Complicated

Wow, so this having a blog thing is harder than I thought!  Just finding the time, let alone thinking of a topic, comes with all of it's own set of complications.  Not to mention that all of the blogs that I love are so funny and I have no idea how to write like that!  Does that come with time or do I just suck?? I guess only time will tell....
So, I put together a schedule and that's definitely been helping me to get things done during the day!  I'm still having a hard time getting a work out fit in, but I imagine I'll get there eventually.  I've been very discouraged by the way my body looks but I have to keep reminding myself that it's only been 11 weeks since I GAVE BIRTH. Kind of a big deal...
Omigosh, TG had his checkup and that fat boy weighs 14 pounds, 3 ounces, which is in the 90th percentile!  Unbelievable!  I didn't even know it was possible for my family to have such a big baby!! Ha!  He's also 24 inches long and has a head circumference of 16 inches.  I'm so impressed with him and my boobs ability to create such a robust child!  It was so awful to see him get his immunizations!  His face turned the reddest I've ever seen!  And then he was very, very fussy for the rest of that evening, but was fine in the following days.
Big D has been awesome lately, too!  She's such a smart, funny, responsible kid.  Her choir teacher just nominated her for an award for students that show responsibility or great improvement or any number of things that the teacher thinks is great.  Each teacher can nominate one student per every six weeks.  So, we got to go to the awards ceremony yesterday morning!  It was a lot of fun to see her get recognized for being such a great kid!  So, now she's also working on us to get her a cell phone!  I have a hard time thinking of my 11 year old baby having a cell phone, but she is incredibly responsible and it would be a great benefit for all of us.  The biggest issue is the extra $10 a month that it will cost us.  More discussion must be had.
I keep talking to my husband about what he wants to be referred to as in this blog, but he still hasn't come up with anything!  I keep offering to call him Vanilla Thunder, but he hasn't taken me up on that offer yet.  Ha!
Oh dear, I'm seeing a pair of beautiful blue eyes staring me and my boobs down!  I have a goal of posting more frequently!  Hold me to it!!!

ADAM!

Wowsers, so Adam got repaired so much quicker than we even imagined!!  I called last Friday to get an update since we had heard from the insurance company that the supplements had been approved.  That's when the guy told me Adam would be ready in THIRTY MINUTES!  Woot!  So, now he's back and TG and I can get out of the house every once in a while.
Tomorrow is TG's 2 month check up and I can't wait!  I get to find out how much he weighs and where his weight and height fall on the charts.  Sadly, the poor baby has to get shots, too.  :( Hopefully he and I both handle it well.
Well, we've got fun things planned for the day (library! Round Rock donuts! walks!), so I'm going to feed TG and get to it!!!

Getting it right....

So, I've been feeling crazy disorganized lately. This causes me to spew a lot of negative self talk at myself and that's never a good thing. Ever since TG was born I've had a hell of a time getting a work out done, a shower, and also getting housework finished! So, finally over the weekend I decided I'd had enough of beating myself up for not getting things done. And so at the beginning of the week I created a schedule for myself, so that I know what I need to get accomplished every day. I know it's only Tuesday, but I'm already feeling really awesome about it! So, here I am shooting myself in the foot by using TG's current nap time to write this rather than getting things done! Ha!
Ugh, so we've also dropped off Adam (our 2009 Toyota Corolla [Adam Corolla? Get it? Ha ha ha!]) to get repaired and we probably won't have him back for a week or more!! SUCK! He got damaged in a hail storm back in March before we moved into our house and had a garage to hide our cars in. Yes, we are barely taking our car to get repaired more than 6 months after it was damaged, but whatevs! There are TONS of people here that are barely getting their cars repaired from the same storm, so there! But, now (Hi! I'm about to make my point!) I have no car! My husband has to take the other car (Eve. GET IT???) so that he can go to work and that leaves me with none. Sad. So, I'll be missing out on our regular baby story time on Thursday mornings at the local library! I'll let you know how my sanity holds out.......

What the what?

Omigosh! That TG slept so great last night! I know that writing about this will now make sure that he doesn't sleep well for many nights, but it was just so amazing! I put myself to bed at just after 10, but TG stayed up a bit later with the dad. And then HE SLEPT UNTIL A LITTLE AFTER 5 A.M.! Wha??? How did that happen? I don't know, but it was lovely! I even made the dad go check and make sure he was breathing when I woke myself up at 5! Strangely, I'm more tired today than the days when I only end up with 6 hours of sleep! Ha! Life is strange.

Starting Out

So, here goes. I've said for a couple of years now that when I quit working that I would start my own blog. After loving and reading so many for years now, I guess it's about time I did. I just recently became a stay at home mom after giving birth to my son on August 5th. And that was always the threshold that I gave myself for starting this thing. When I was working, it was always "oh, I'm too busy, I don't have that kind of time" and since Tiny Guy was born it's been "oh, I'm still too busy", so I've decided it's time to quit making excuses! I'm not sure how good it's going to be or if I'll even end up with any followers, but I think this will be a great outlet for me.
I'm sitting here and just having a hell of a time thinking about what I want to write about! I hope that it will get easier the longer I do this. Right now I'm just kind of waiting for Tiny Guy to wake up so that I can feed him.
Tiny Guy (TG) is almost 2 months old now and I just can't believe it. I had such a hard time and struggled with post partum depression after he was born and time moved so slowly then. And now that I'm feeling better, it's just flying! Even the days when I feel like I'm accomplishing almost nothing seem to go so fast. The days when I'm able to get a shower, a nap, AND get some housework done feel like I'm getting so much done! Ha! It's definitely a different mindset. I didn't stay home with my 11 year old daughter, Big D, so I have no experience with this.
OK, I'm going to call this a good first post and be done for now!
